This week, we began the planning of the final project. based on previous areas of interest, Our group listed the relevant areas that everyone wants to explore, with physical boundaries, immersive experiences, and virtual objects transformed into figurative objects. These keywords don't seem to have much connection with each other, we need to narrow down the scope. We chose the topic of the boundaries of the body. Eventually our group decided to explore how technology can help people extend the boundaries of their body. Below is our related search.
<The inheritance>
This new media performance is a work that I personally like very much. The author mainly expresses the use of his own body as a measuring tool to record his own history. The author said that the history that everyone familiar with is official history, and many of the unknown things are hidden. Both of the technical perspective and the thinking perspective are novel. As for the technologies he used, he applied motion capture, 3D printing and so on in this project.
Rebecca Horn<Extending Bodies>
She is a German installation artist. Most of her works are symbols of the extension of the human body. She wanted to express the technology that helps people extend the boundaries of their bodies.
All of these works are related to keywords, human body boundaries, technology, and extension. Technology as a tool extends the human body as a function of expansion. For example, in the first work, People can use the body as a tool to measure the length of objects , but the length of time we can measure is limited. Technologies, however, helped us expand the length of time that can be measured.
